In the Torrevieja / Alicante area there
are 4 major Championship golf courses plus lots of other
smaller ones. The best months to play golf are between
September and May when the weather is not too hot although
playing in summer is enjoyable it sometimes get a bit
uncomfortable in the heat.
Buggies can be hired on most courses for a reasonable
fee.

The closest Championship golf course to Los Palacios,
and Formentera Del Segura in Rojales and only about
10 minutes away. A relatively new course, La Finca
is set in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful
orange and lemon groves. Situated at the bottom of
Mount Escotera, this location offers fantastic views
of the Segura region.
La Finca golf course has the greatest variety of
greens in the whole Costa Blanca, ranging from the
small to the very large and has been designed to host
top tournaments, there is even a reserve hole in case
of the event that one of the other holes is unplayable.
With lakes and reed beds, the course attracts numerous
water birds and other wildlife. Olive and palm trees
in the centre add a natural beauty and some extra
difficulty to the course giving a beautiful calming
feeling while you play ( which you may need on some
of the more demanding holes ).
VILLAMARTIN Golf Course:
between Alicante & Cartagena 8 kms south of Torrevieja
This course is approximately 20 minutes from Los
Palacios or Formentera Del Segura, has hosted the
Mediterranean open and is probably one of the best
know courses in the area. There are excellent greens
and Scenic fairways making this a medium difficulty
course.
There is an excellent club house with a pool with
wonderful gardens with a large fountain with a statue
of a lady golfer where is nice to relax and discuss
how the course played. On the edge of the course are
some beautiful properties that are well worth a look
as you pass.
CAMPOAMOR Golf Course:
between Alicante - Cartagena
18 hole course, par 72, designed by Carmelo Gracía
Caselles, 1989
Approximately 25 minutes from Los Palacios and Formentera
Del Segura, this is a course with very long greens:
a great course for the big hitters. Both professional
and amateurs will enjoy this course with its big fairways
and wide, long greens, all enclosed by orange and
lemon groves with lovely views.
Campoamor Golf Course also boasts a driving range
and 2 putting greens where you can warm up before
playing. There is a good prop shop and an excellent
clubhouse.
LAS RAMBLAS Golf Course:
between Alicante & Cartagena
Holes 18 par 72 designed by Jose Gancedo and opened
in 1991
This course is approximately 25 minutes from Los
Palacios and Formentera Del Segura and is also owned
by Villamartin, thus it is also known as Villamartin
2. However, Las Ramblas golf course offers a different
game to Villamartin; varying from shrubbery to lots
of ravines, making things very difficult. Along with
this, the fairways and greens are narrow, requiring
a good deal of precision when hitting the ball. These
and other well designed factors make las Ramblas a
very challenging course.
